Nativity

For this years Nativity Sapphire class will be playing the part of the animals.

All they will need is their black p.e kit. A headband, with animal ears, will be provided by the school.

If the class could please wear their P.E kit into school on the following dates:

Thursday 8th December  (dress rehearsal to the school).

Monday 12th December and Tuesday 13th December  (Children can bring in their black top separately, in a named carry bag, as it is Christmas Jumper Week.)

Friday 25th November 2022

Hello and happy Friday.

 

Another busy week, starting off with celebrating St Edmunds Day, where we made crowns and flags as well as enjoying a school feast.

In English, we have enjoyed re-telling the story of ‘ The Train Ride’. We also looked at sorting old and new forms of transport.

 

In Maths, we have been exploring parts that make a whole. An introducing to ‘part-whole method’ which we use when adding.

We explored what happened with our toy cars when we changed the height of the class ramp.

In RE, we have been learning about the first nativity and today we made Birthday cards to celebrate Jesus’ birthday.

 

Monday – please come to school in their PE kit.

 

The Ks1 nativity is 12th/13th December. All children will need to attend on these Days in PE kit with a PLAIN black/dark top with PE trousers. We will be making headdress’ in school.

Thursday – PTA festive fun day.

Friday – PTA Christmas Market.

If anyone has any old Christmas wrapping paper, we would love to add this to our role play area.

 

Please do continue to read and practice sound cards and word-time words.

Please complete one activity from their challenge sheet.

You should be on challenge 4.

Please spend 10 minutes on Mathseeds.

Friday 18th November 2022

Hello and Happy Friday,

This week we have continued our story of ‘The Train Ride’ We went on an adventure where we bought our train tickets and went on an adventure. It was lots of fun.

 

In Maths, we have been comparing numbers and using the words ‘equal’ and same as.

 

In Phonics, we have split into 3 groups, and we are recapping the set 1 sounds.

We have started to learn the songs for the Christmas Nativity.

 

In RE, we have been learning about the nativity and we made mince pies.

Did you know?

mince pies were originally oval shapes to represent Jesus’ manger.

 

 

While in our choosing time, we have enjoyed being outside. The children have loved transporting the water and learning how to collect the rain water and use it in their play. Although they are wearing their waterproofs socks still get wet, so if spare socks and tights could be kept in school, that would help us.

Friday 11th November 2022

Hello and happy Friday

 

In Maths this week, we have looking at counting out correctly numbers to 5, some of us have found it challenging when playing Simon Says to clap and jump the correct number.

In Read Write Inc, we have now learnt the ‘special friends’ sh,ch,th,ng and nk.

We have assessed all the children, and they will be regrouped for phonics. A sheet outlining their next steps has been included in their reading diary.   ( Any questions, please ask)

 

Information about sound Blending

In English, we have been focusing on the book, ‘The Train Ride’. We wrote about all the things we could see on the train.

 

We have enjoyed looking at remembrance and making our own poppies.


We also enjoyed starting to learn our songs for Christmas.

Hello and Happy Friday,

What a busy first week back we have had.

 

We began with outdoor Learning day, which we really enjoyed.

 

In Maths we have been exploring the language or more and fewer when comparing two groups of objects. We have also been practising subitising numbers to 5 ( counting with our eyes)

 

In English, we have started to talk about Journeys we have been on. We then had a go at writing about them.

 

Mrs Sulliman came in and spoke to us about Divali and we tried on some sari’s.

In RE, we have begun our unit on ‘ Why do Christian’s celebrate nativity plays?’ We listened to a story about Jesus and looked at how we remember when Jesus was a baby. We looked at photos of adults in the classroom and had a try at guessing them. We use oil pastels to draw the baby photos.

 

We talked about Bonfire Night and why we celebrate it and made some colourful firework pictures.

 

 

We go out in all Weathers including the rain. Please can ALL children come to school with a coat. Please send in a bag with a change of clothes especially socks and tights.  We are very low on socks, so if you are able to donate any for our class supply. We would appreciate it.

 

Homework has been sent out for all home-learning to go in.

 

They have been set a challenge sheet. Please choose ONE activity to complete and send the book back into class on Wednesday.  We have included the RWI phonic sheet to help with letter formation.

Please do practice letter sounds and read their reading book.

please do sign when they have read or we won’t be able to change the book.

 

We will be hosting a phonics workshop shortly, so look out for the email.
